I got this 1970s-era 10-speed in a trade for a cracked Brooks saddle. I thought it was cool because it was all original, but I don't know what I was thinking. Mainly, I was terrified he'd make it into a "fixie", and I couldn't bear to see that happen to another bike.

The Arctic was a promotional item for Arctic Cat, and was made by Stella. It had some cool Arctic decals, and the company logo on the head tube.

Derailleurs and shifters were plastic Simplex. The rear one broke in my hand when I was changing the cable. Brakes were Weinmann, of course, which are actually decent quality. I've saved them for a future project.

The original seat was a hard plastic torture device. Even I could not bare to ride on it, and so I swapped it for a more modern padded model.

Despite being a bit small for me, this one rode well. I liked the ride quality of the 27" wheels, and I liked the handling.

I really hope to find (or make) a 10-speed in a non-goofy color, and with a frame that fits me. Some day.
