I found this bike near the corner of Newell St. and Diamond, in Greenpoint, may of 2011. It was in the trash, and labelled "Black n White Schwinn Fleet SN#FB0194 June 1967".

I brought it to the metal shop and Bryce and I cobbled together a couple of wheels (we went for 559s, rather than retain the original 571 Schwinn-size ones, of which there was only the rear), and generally made it rideable.

It rides well, having a much longer top-tube than other "cruiser" style bicycles I've ridden.

I gave it to Roland Benedetti, a friend who just moved to the neighborhood. Unfortunately, he is over 6' tall, and the seat will not budge from its current low position, but he likes it for cruising around the neighborhood.

Why are there so many different Schwinn models? Did they come up with a new, flashy model name for every size and color of bike? Anyway, it's great.
